ATTENTION ALL LICENSED BUILDERS AND BUILDING CONTRACTORS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The Development (Trusses) Variation Regulations 2011 

MANDATORY NOTIFICATION STAGES

A licensed building work contractor who is carrying out the work, or who is in charge of carrying out the work, must notify the Council at the following stages (but not limited to):

One business days notice of:

a)   COMMENCEMENT OF BUILDING WORK ON THE SITE;

b)   PLACING OF CONCRETE IN ANY FOOTING OR OTHER STRUCTURAL MEMBER THAT TRANSFERS LOAD DIRECTLY TO A FOUNDATION;

c)    THE COMPLETION OF ALL ROOF FRAMING FORMING PART OF THE BUILDING WORK (INCLUDING TOP AND BOTTOM CHORD RESTRAINTS, BRACING AND TIE-DOWNS);

d)    THE COMPLETION OF BUILDING WORK.

The City of Victor Harbor will include a list of mandatory notification stages with the development approval documents when they are issued.

Notification may be given:

a)      by written notice left with Council;

b)      by posting to Council – PO Box 11 Victor Harbor SA 5211;

c)       by faxing to Council – 8551 0501;

d)      by telephone – 8551 0500; or

e)      by email to Council – buildinginspections@victor.sa.gov.au

SUPERVISOR’S CHECKLIST

The supervisor’s checklist includes provisions relating to the handling, installation and inspection of roof framing, which must be systematically “ticked off” during the delivery and construction of the roof framing system.

A completed supervisor’s checklist, signed by a registered building work supervisor who has undertaken the required training, must be provided to Council within 1 business day after giving notice that the roof framing is complete.

The supervisor’s checklist is required for 100% of building rules consents involving the construction of roof framing. Below are specific checklists dependant on the roof type and/or class.

ROOF FRAMING MUST NOT BE CONCEALED

After giving notice that the roof framing is complete, a person must not conceal the framing until after the expiration of 2 clear business days (ie. No roof or wall cladding installed).

PENALTIES

A person who breaches any of the above requirements is guilty of an offence, and may be liable to pay an expiation fee of $500, or be liable to a maximum penalty of $10,000.
