The City of Victor Harbor administers a number of business units and programs that assist in the area of business development.
Economic Development Division
The City of Victor Harbor’s Economic Development Division deliver a range of functions including, business engagement, economic development projects, co-ordination of targeted training and business advisory services. Council’s administration are continuing to improve how it engages with local business with a range of projects planned in this space.
The City of Victor Harbor’s Mainstreet program is designed to activate the Mainstreet Precinct – a strategic local business environment. The program engages with the various businesses located within the Victor Harbor Mainstreet Precinct while delivering a range of projects that support the promotion of the precinct.
Council are currently delivering on a Mainstreet Masterplan that involves a seven stage re-development of the Mainstreet Precinct, including Ocean Street, Coral Street, McKinlay Street and parts of Albert Place & Stuart Street. Stage one of the Masterplan is funded and scheduled to commence within the first half of 2016.
Visitor Information Centre
Council operates an accredited Visitor Information Centre with accommodation , tour & attraction booking services. The Centre provides opportunity for local tourism businesses to promote their product to over 50,000 visitors that pass through the centre doors annually while exposure is available through the official tourism website www.holidayatvictorharbor.com.au . The Centre is located adjacent the Foreshore Plaza on the Esplanade.
Festivals & Events
The City of Victor Harbor provides significant support to a broad range of Festivals & Events that drive vibrancy and stimulate economic activity within the Victor Harbor community. Those wishing access Council land, seek sponsorship or advisory assistance for festivals & events occurring in Victor Harbor are encouraged to contact Council’s Festivals & Events Officer on (08) 8551 0500.
The City of Victor Harbor are working in partnership with the Department of Environment, Water & Natural Resources to enable ‘pop-up’ vendors to operate on Granite Island. Selling to Council - Local businesses wishing to be considered for Council related work are encouraged to apply for contractor pre-qualification. Information about the pre-qualification process is outlined on Council’s website.
Economic Development & Tourism Committee - Council has appointed industry sector representatives to provide advisory support to Council in the area of Economic Development & Tourism.
